5/13/2023 0 Comments The glass menagerie play scriptAlthough Williams had specific directions, he did want this play to be “plastic”-a play that the director can change to make it more relevant and this is Ritsch’s intent. Some may take exception to what we have come to historically expect, but this production is both moving and entertaining. The family is originally from Mississippi and Tennessee and the play takes place in the late 1930s in St. The father is an absent character, having left the family when Tom and Laura were very young and who are now somewhere in their early 20s. He is the father of Laura and Tom and husband to The Mother, Amanda (Grace Bauer). A very large picture of a smiling, contemporary-looking Black man is projected on a wall in the center of the set. Davis, an African-American actor, and Dylan Arredondo, who plays Tom, is a multi-racial actor. Utilizing conceptual casting, the role of The Daughter, Laura, is played by Brittany A. Ritsch, Rep Stage’s Artistic Director, has made a few script changes and employed some interesting set choices. Tennessee Williams’ autobiographical memory play, “The Glass Menagerie,” presented by Rep Stage, may raise some eyebrows for some traditionalists. Dylan Arredondo as Tom Wingfield and Grace Bauer as Amanda Wingfield.

But events barreled on without natural pause for more than two hundred days, the curtain coming down on the first act of Trump’s presidency only with the appointment of retired general John Kelly as the chief of staff in late July and the exit of chief strategist Stephen K. This was originally conceived as an account of the Trump administration’s first hundred days, that most traditional marker of a presidency. As the day approached, I set out to tell this story in as contemporaneous a fashion as possible, and to try to see life in the Trump White House through the eyes of the people closest to it. With the inauguration of Donald Trump on January 20, 2017, the United States entered the eye of the most extraordinary political storm since at least Watergate. When I picked up this book, I was interested in highly productive Engineering organizations and their internal workings. She wears bizarre clothes that might indicate a punk or rebellious stance if worn by another kid. She has mounds of curly red hair and she is not thin. Rather, it alternates as the need arises, so sometimes it is by chapter, sometimes by paragraph.Įleanor is the new girl in school, and she looks unconventional enough to make her the immediate butt of jokes and bullying. The story moves back and forth in point of view between Park Sheridan and Eleanor Douglas, but doesn’t alternate regularly. It’s a coming-of-age book about two very brave sixteen-year-old teens in 1986 near Omaha, Nebraska. Those are, aside from being more than a little unfair, entirely inappropriate. It had been somewhat hyped as a deconstructionist look at the superhero genre – hell, I even heard some ridiculous comparisons to The Dark Knight Returns. I have to admit to being a bit disappointed by Old Man Logan. Indeed, the title is alluded to in a scene featuring “the Hulk gang” riding around in a vandalised Fantastic Four hovercar, featuring “Un-4-Given” scrawled on the side. Specifically William Munney, the character played by Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. Here Millar proposes Wolverine as a cowboy. In Western culture, perhaps the most obvious comparison is with a cowboy ( The Seven Samurai itself being adapted into The Magnificent Seven as an idea of how the two are interchangeable – A Fistful of Dollars itself was a remake of a Japanese original). Wolverine is a character typically written with varying degrees of complexity by different authors, but he can essentially be boiled down to Chris Claremont’s conception of the character as a ronin, or a masterless samurai. |
